overload
Did you see it? Notice all those little white tags on the spines of each book? Yes, that's right, those are all library books. Rob is obsessed. This bookcase has six shelves, and the top four are filled to capacity with library books. Plus he has a few others strewn throughout the house. I counted 62 books total. 62! That is an insane amount of books to have checked out from the library at one time. He's addicted. In his own words, he is "a hoarder who eventually returns his hoard." Sounds healthy doesn't it.
When asked about this book collecting habit he replied, "It's a good thing I don't buy 62 books at a time instead of checking them out from the library!" -- well that's true, but I previously failed to mention that he does own quite a few books already; there is a large pile of boxes stacked full of books in the basement that once occupied those upper four shelves before the library books took over.
Rob would like it mentioned that this collection of checked-out books comes from two different libraries, his university library and the city library. I don't know how that helps matters any, but Rob seems to think it does.
I just don't now how he can manage to read and retain information from so many books at the same time! But he told me some of them are just for reference for a particular school assignment or work project. Others he actually reads from cover to cover. But still, that's a lot of information to try and capture simultaneously! Looks like he needs some of that NZT from the movie Limitless (which, coincidentally, is based on a book that Rob has read and loved). Then he would be an unstoppable superpower with all the knowledge he gets from his mass amounts of reading.
When he found out I was writing a blog post about his book hoarding, Rob commented, "All your friends are going to think I'm weird now." So was he right? It's time to weigh in: Weird? Cool? Other? Let's hear your thoughts.
p.s. We did see Limitless last night, and it was good. Go see it so you can wish you had more brain capacity. I know I wish I did!

I don't think you understand the importance of what I'm trying to tell you
Me: "What? What is it?"
Rob: "Frosting....glove box."
Me: "What?!"
Rob: "The frosting container in the glove box!"
Me: "Glove box? Frosting container? What do those even have to do with each other? Are you even awake?!"
Rob: "YES I'm awake!!"
Me: "Then what about the glove box and frosting container?"
Rob: "Never mind."
...................................................
I asked Rob this morning if he remembers waking up in the middle of the night and asking me about frosting and glove boxes. He said he remembers it, but he has no idea what he was talking about.
Neither do I, Rob. Neither do I.

Rob went to Singapore. And Cambodia. Here are some photos.
Rob was in Cambodia and Singapore from April 29 - May 9 for an "International Context" trip as part of his MBA program at Westminster College. If you're interested, here are some photos from his trip. I didn't feel like re-posting them all here. Sorry blog.
Here's the photo I made him take before he left on his trip. :)

And here's Sara happy to see her daddy after he came home! She's wearing two necklaces Rob brought back for me from Cambodia.
And here's one more photo from his trip.
To see what it's all about, you have to click here to view the rest of the photos! -- I promise it's not a trick. Really. It's not. Click there and you'll see more awesome pictures from far away lands. Promise.

Bad Wifey
+copy.jpg)
It's now 6 months later and he still does not possess either of these items. What a horrible wife I am!! How can he ever trust me again! The answer? He may never be able to. But maybe if I can manage to get these items for him by Christmas, maybe then he'll at least be able to forgive me. We'll see what I can do.

A Good Surprise
papers taped to the mirror in the bathroom....
and then around the corner and on the mirror in the entryway and front door....
and leading into the kitchen and wall of the dining room.
Each of these papers had something typed on it when I lifted them up. To set the background for this, our 5th Anniversary is this Saturday, and several months ago Rob and I talked about what we should do to celebrate. We talked about maybe going on a trip, but then decided against it because of the costs. We just decided that we would stay in town and eat out at the same place we've eaten at the past two years, this great sushi place downtown....It's sort of become a tradition. But then when I woke up this morning and saw this string of papers on the walls, everything changed! They started out by saying "you say you like good surprises, so I hope this is one" and something about how wood (the traditional 5th year anniversary gift) is a "rather unispiring category", so no gifts this year. Then he tells me he printed all these papers on draft, so don't worry, no wasted ink (wow, I was so worried) and proceeds to tell me we won't be getting our free meal at Chipotle on Friday and we won't be going to Takashi on Saturday! What? GASP!! But it's tradition! I mean, it's only been a tradition for two years, but come on, traditions have to get going somehow! And THIS is no way to keep it going!! Well that's when this next paper came up...
Huh?? ... "Our flight leaves tomorrow at 11:50 am." ... WHAT??!? ... Then he tells me he's been working extra hard this month so we can afford it (how thoughtful!), and that our 5th anniversary dinner just might be at a street stand, or perhaps something a little fancier, in (are you ready for it?) New York! ... as in I 'heart' NY! Wow!! I've never been to New York City before, and neither has Rob, so this will be a first trip for the both of us! So enough of this blogging, I've got some serious packing to do!
