Oh, by the way. . . . Our friends who had the pirate party for their little boy want to give away (FREE) the decorations and extra party favors to anybody who is interested. So if you're looking to throw a themed party and have a hankering to wear an eye patch, just let me know and I'll hook you up.

A Pirate's Life for Me
Some friends of ours had a party on Saturday for their little boy's 3rd birthday. The theme was pirates, and we were asked to dress up. And so we did!
Here is Sara in her costume, all ready to go to the party.

And all of us at the party. Sara was more interested in Mommy's sword than she was in looking at the camera.

Sara enjoyed digging for treasure in the pirate chest,

Keeping the lookout with the spyglass,

and practicing her new "scrunchy nose" smile.

The decorations at the party were superb. This cute pirate ship on the fence,

flags hanging above the yard,

and a detailed treasure map to guide the kids toward the treasure chest.

And, most importantly. . .
THE CAKE!
We had a great time. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARED!

Dear Anna,
Please stop buying me. We both know I'm too delicious to resist, so just do yourself a favor and keep on walking when you see that frozen section at the grocery store. And don't go sending your husband out to get me either. You know you'll just regret it later after you've eaten half of me in one night. I know I'm tasty, I know I'm sweet, but you're just going to have to get over me and move on.
Sincerely,
Mint Chocolate Cookie

Do you think I could sell it on ebay?
The trouble with not having enough counter space in your kitchen is you use your stove top for extra counter space. The trouble with using your stove top for extra counter space is inevitably, something will be left on there that shouldn't be. The trouble with leaving something on there that shouldn't be is that somebody will turn the oven on to cook a party pizza without clearing off the stove top first. The trouble with cooking a party pizza without clearing off the stove top is, this happens:

On the plus side, now I have this cool "man in the moon" looking piece of tupperware. It won't keep any food items fresh, but it sure is fun to look at.
p.s. I would label this under "me being dumb", but I wasn't the one who cooked the party pizza. :)

Who knew?!
I bought some frozen raspberries have on hand to mix into baby food for Sara. Last week I put some in a glass dish on the defrost setting in the microwave and to my surprise, the raspberries started to spark like they were tinfoil in the micro! It was crazy, and very weird since (to my knowledge) there is no metal in raspberries. I went online to see if this phenomenon is common, or if I just got a bad batch of frozen berries. Well it turns out it's happened to other people too! See for yourself here and here. Apparently it doesn't happen to other berries, just raspberries. To quote from the first link,
". . . they tested the frozen raspberries in several different microwave machines and they all sparked. The manufacturers of the microwaves said that it could be the size and shape of the ice crystals. They were able to coax sparks from some frozen blackberries, but the raspberries always sparked."
So if you ever need to defrost frozen raspberries, sit them out at room temperature, use the oven, or even sit the dish on top of the toaster while it's on, but by all means--avoid the microwave!! Unless, of course, you're in the mood for a stunning firework display, in which case just pile a bunch of the little red berries on top of some tinfoil and a CD or two, and then you'll really get a good show. Just don't blame me when your microwave explodes.

Laughing
Sara has been pulling herself up to kneeling or standing in her crib after she wakes up. We had to lower the mattress! Here she is laughing at her mama after waking up from a nap.
Crawling
She's been doing this for about a month now, but only doing it this well for the past few weeks.

Still here
I've been chastised by my sister-in-law to update my blog.......................yes, I guess it has been a while! Ooopsy. Well here's a verbal update for those who are interested. Video of the babes below.
SO things here are good. Rob started school again last week (he's getting an MBA). He's got one class on Wednesday nights and one on Saturday mornings. The Wed class is 8 weeks and the Sat class is only for 3, but each session is 5 hours!! He's still working hard and not getting paid enough at Rockwell Timekeepers. He seems to enjoy it, and still comes home with a new watch every now and then.
Sara is doing great. She has been crawling for a few weeks now! At first she would do this little belly-flop thing to get a round. She would get up onto her knees and then flop forward onto her belly, then get back up on her knees and flop forward again. Very time consuming and calorie burning! But now she's got the regular cross-pattern crawling thing down and she LOVES to cruise around the house. She just follows me everywhere I go! She's pretty fast. She loves to get into things she isn't supposed to, especially cords and wires of any kind. Now that she's mobile I'm realizing our house is SO not baby proof!! I had to hide all the computer cords under the desk, but she still loves to crawl under there and pull herself up and sit on her knees and hang out in her little under-the-desk cave. Her favorite spot while mommy's at the computer!
Nothing is going on with me really. I've been super lazy since becoming a mother! I haven't even started exercising since Sara arrived, and I'm really starting to feel icky about it. My weight is the same as before I got pregnant, but my body is definitely not the same! I'm sure all you mommy's know exactly what I mean!! I decided I want to get into shape before the end of the year so I can look FABULOUS when I see my family for Christmas (but don't hold me to it, k?). Now all I have to do is get my booty in gear and start exercising. Uhg! Makes me tired just thinking about it. Which is weird because I actually really love to exercise once I get going. But right now it seems like too much work. That's the attitude of a true lazy procrastinator!
Alrighty, well that's enough blabbing for one post. Enjoy the visual stimulation below.
