We're outta here!

We be goin' to California for the weekend plus a few days. Wahoo!! Little Sara has met most of my family, but she still needs to meet two of my brothers, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and of course her two cousins on my side. We're excited! We're driving out as early as possible tomorrow moring (well, today I guess -- posting this at 12:03 midnight) and hoping Sara will do well in the car. Wish us luck!

Come along, you belong, to the fizz of IZZE soda

I love this stuff.

Made with 70% pure fruit juice, a splash of sparkling water, and containing no refined sugars, no caffeine, no preservatives, and no artificial colors or flavors - IZZE Sparkling fruit juice is refreshingly different! (no I didn't make that all up. I stole it from their website.)

This is my favorite flavor. (grapefruit)

What is your favorite drink?

My hands hurt

Jar manufactures really shouldn't seal those lids so tight. My forearms are gonna be sore for days! But on the other hand, I just accomplished something that for three minutes and during several failed attempts seemed impossible. Yay me. Now let's go eat some salsa!

London bridge is falling down...

This morning I put Sara under her activity mat toys and went two steps over to the computer to check my email. About ten minutes later I turned around to find this:

Oopsy! Guess I can't leave this little girl out of my sight anymore!

Unbreakable Frequency

Just a quick post before going to bed. It's 1:22 AM. What am I still doing up you ask? Well with our Comcast digital cable package, we get a few Encore movie channels for free, and tonight after going for a nice evening stroll, we just so happened to catch the tail end of Unbreakable, and then the last hour of Frequency after that. Both excellent flicks. If you haven't seen them, hit up your nearest Blockbuster and check 'em out. You won't be sorry. As for me, it's time to get some shut-eye. Why do I do this to myself?!

Dinner Recap

  • Pot stickers and veggies with homemade ham fried rice -- GOOD
  • Rice pudding with experimental caramelized sugar topping -- NOT SO GOOD
  • Triscuit cracker to rid mouth of sugar overload taste from pudding -- NEEDED
  • Straight from the carton spoonful of Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream -- NOT SO NEEDED, but delish

early to bed, early to rise

Rob and I have been trying to get Sara to go to bed a little earlier recently. She's gotten in the habit of staying up 'til midnight, so then we don't get to bed until almost 1:00. Not good. SO Sunday night she went down at 10:30, and then last night she went down at 8:00!! This seemed great until this morning when she woke up at 4:50 to eat (normal) but then had no interest in going back to sleep!! (side note, even though Sara went to bed early, Rob and I still managed to stay up until 12:30. Darn night-owl mentality!) Finally at 6:30 I climbed back into bed after putting her in her bassinet in hopes she would fall asleep on her own. Eventually she did, but she was just laying there cooing and singing to herself in the meantime. It was really cute. Anyway, there's really no point to this story. Just rambling. Also, 8:00 might just be too early for bed time. Tonight we'll see if we can find some kind of middle ground.

based on a true story

Once upon a time there was a Daddy who came home for lunch. While eating his sandwich and sitting by his daughter who was laying under her activity mat toys, the daddy leaned over and said, "We named you Sara because it stands for Sweet And Really Awesome."

And they all lived happily ever after. The End.

And in other news...

It's pretty sad when you don't have any food in your fridge so you have to put string cheese on your sandwich.

or

String cheese doesn't really work that great for sandwiches.

Top Heavy

With Sara's new trick of holding her head up so high come the inevitable consequences:

ROLLING OVER! (albeit accidentally, but a girl's gotta start somewhere)

And all that lifting her head up and rolling over results in this:

A TIRED AND SAD BABY.
but she did so great didn't she?

Sara's new trick

This may not look like much to you, but holding her head up so high while on her tummy is quite the accomplishment! And she held it up this high for several minutes! Then she was ready for a nap after all that hard work.
