It's been nine hours...
and I still have a sleeping baby!! This is wonderful! But I can't help but wonder...is she okay?? I checked, and she's still breathing. :) I guess it's normal for babies to start sleeping longer, right?

WOW!!
Sara slept eight hours straight for the first time last night. Wow! So that's what a full night's rest feels like!

For your viewing pleasure
Sara's favorite part about tummy time is the proximity of her hand to her mouth.

Called it
Camille and Lindsey, today was payback for all those horrible days of misery you suffered (and continue to suffer for Camille!!) when I made you ward organists. Guess who is the best piano player in her new ward and therefore has been asked to be the new organist? Oh that's right, you guessed it. And you both are oh-so aware of my level of piano skills (or lack there of !), so me being the best pianist is pretty sad. Okay, so maybe I'm not the best pianist, but apparently I'm the only one who's had previous organ experience (blast!) so I was pretty much a shoe-in. Thank goodness this is a new electric organ with a bass coupler, so I can fake the foot pedals. :)
Ahh karma. Isn't it great? I totally saw this coming.

Little Houdini
We always swaddle Sara nice and tight in a blanket before putting her to bed or down for a nap. We've learned, however, that she prefers to have at least one arm un-swaddled. As you can see, she'll go to great lengths to get that way.

Tiny
At church today, this little boy who was probably about two years old was sitting in front of us with his parents. He kept looking back at Sara and was saying the cutest things. I had to write down a few so I would remember them word for word.
"Look at the tiny baby!"
"I'm gonna get tiny when I'm older."
"Why is she so tiny?"
Bill Cosby was right. Kids really do say the darndest things.

In Bloom
Ok, so perhaps my little pity party was slightly unjustified. I may have over-reacted just a tad. (Me? Over-react? Never!)
Admittedly, I am sad about not living downtown anymore. I really enjoyed having restaurants and shopping and Trax, etc. within walking distance. But our new apartment really is pretty great. I'm not so excited about the location (kinda in the middle of nowhere) but the apartment itself is nice--has a washer/dryer in the unit, has a second bedroom so Sara doesn't have to sleep in the living room anymore, has vaulted ceilings which help make it feel more spacious, has a nice large covered patio that we can enjoy when it's not freezing outside, has a pool and weight room and covered parking, has a great view of the mountains, and is close enough to Rob's work that he can come home for lunch. How's that for a silver lining? I guess I just got worked up for nothing. I am still sad about moving away from friends and from the location, but I can't let my sadness about that ruin the possibilities of our new place or keep me from enjoying our life as it is now, no matter the circumstances. "Bloom where you're planted." That's my new motto. It may not be perfect, but I'll do my best to make the most of it.
p.s. -- Thanks to those who gave words of encouragement during my pity party. I needed it!

pity party for one
We moved into a 2-bedroom apartment in North Salt Lake last week. I miss our condo. I miss being downtown. I miss owning. Renting sucks. I'm pretty bummed out about the whole thing. There are still lots of boxes to unpack but I just don't feel like it. Trying to find the silver lining....
